About Gideon Botha

Gideon Botha is a South African Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)] and currently a Senior Financial Manager at one of the Top 5 commercial banks in South Africa. His primary objective is to achieve business growth for the bank’s home loan division.

In 2019, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants awarded the Top 35-under-35 Category Award – Simplifying your Success Award to Gideon Botha for his professional achievement as a CA(SA) and several community development initiatives. This prestigious award is awarded to a chartered accountant under 35 years old with a track record of finding solutions to complex problems.

His creative preferred future scenarios and his desire to increase financial inclusivity impelled him to pursue a rare Master’s Degree in Future Studies with the thesis topic, The Future of Banking, at the University of Stellenbosch in 2020. This has made Gideon one of the sought-after speakers in South Africa.

In 2019, Gideon completed his PhD at the Nelson Mandela University titled A framework for price tariffs in the costing structures of South African private hospitals. This achievement has given Gideon a voice to lead the conversation in the health industry as a moderator or keynote speaker and his views are valuable as a contributor to different publications.

Gideon Botha is the co-founder of 1percent – an NGO founded on the principle that one per cent of the population owns 99% of the world’s wealth. This initiative encourages corporate executives to donate 1percent of their bonus to a worthy cause. Through this project, Gideon and his team’s vision is to fund less-privileged learners’ university tuition and other educational support.
